Roddy Sergiades Is New
Woodie Times Editor

While Roddy knows he has some big shoes to fill following John Lee, he says he is ready for the challenge – and loves woodies as well. He describes himself as a passionate vintage car hobbyist and historian, with extensive automotive writing, editing and graphic design publishing experience – which is pretty much exactly what we are looking for! His resume includes being editor of – and contributor to - several car-related and other publications.

Roddy, along with his wife Laura and 11-year-old daughter Samantha, live on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Yes, the north shore location makes him a Canadian! The good news is that Laura also thinks woodies are quite cool!

Roddy holds a BA degree in Journalism from Ryerson University – Canada’s top journalism school. He has extensive experience in editing, layout, desktop publishing, as well as all the major software needed to make this all happen.

He is also a member of over a dozen vintage car clubs and is a keen vintage radio hobbyist as well. Aside from that, he has a deep fascination with passenger liner history and consequently thus far has crossed the North Atlantic six times on two great liners – Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2.

Although Roddy does not currently own a woodie (he IS looking at one however), he does have an eclectic collection of some eight other vintage cars - one or more each decade including the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. They include well-known names including De Soto, Pontiac, Studebaker, and Dodge. There are some less-known brands as well including Armstrong Siddeley and Humber. So, Roddy is no stranger to wrench-turning either!

Feel free to reach out to Roddy with any articles, photos, letters to the Editor, or other info you’d like to submit for potential Woodie Times publication. He can be reached at: editor@nationalwoodieclub.com.

So please help us give a warm welcome to Roddy – We are so excited to have him on board!

2020 National Meet Cancelled

As you know, for our 2020 National Meet we were partnering with the Blackhawk Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society. Our event committee was recently notified that the Antique and Classic Boat Show at Lake Geneva has been cancelled for 2020.

With their cancellation we lost all our NWC meet infrastructure including show field, parking, and all support facilities. As a result of this and over concerns relating to the virus pandemic, your NWC Board has voted to cancel this year’s event and reschedule the 2020 NWC National Meet to September of 2021.

The planning of activities and tours will resume this winter in preparation of our 2021 National Meet. As always, all the details will be shared on this website, our event website: www.nationalwoodieshow.com, and in the Woodie Times.

In the coming weeks we will be returning all the pre-registrations for 2020 that we have received.

Additionally, NWC President Wayne Yada has created an official letter of event cancellation, if anyone needs proof for potential airline, hotel, or other booking cancellations. Contact him at president@nationalwoodieclub.com, and he will forward one to you.

We obviously regret needing to make this decision but the health and safety of all our woodie friends remains our highest priority.

Hope to see you at Lake Geneva in 2021!

"The National Woodie Club exists to promote interest in woodies; to educate owners and the public on their history, beauty, usefulness and uniqueness; and to provide an association through which woodie owners and enthusiasts may exchange information on history, building, restoration or modification techniques and share experiences. The woodie is a special kind of car, which deserves special recognition. The National Woodie Club will work toward that goal."
